Role & Career Summary
CEO founded the company in 2018 with a mission to transform waste into timeless value through sustainable fashion. Holding degrees from the State University of Albany and Massachusetts College of Art, she combines design expertise with a deep personal commitment to environmental sustainability and social impact.
Her motivation stemmed from raising three children amid Korea’s air pollution, inspiring her to create eco-friendly fashion from discarded materials such as old jeans, coffee sacks, cactus-based vegan leather, and Hanji. Under her leadership, HARLIE K became a certified social enterprise recognized internationally, including a Red Dot Design Award (2018).
Kim envisions HARLIE K growing into a global brand rooted in Daegu, fostering regional solidarity by partnering with local organizations like the Daegu Senior Club to provide meaningful jobs for senior women artisans. Her work emphasizes both environmental innovation and social value creation.
